You can’t fail to fall in love with Harrogate, it is a cultural, vibrant town with just the right mix of historic vs. modern. Traditional ale houses sit happily alongside hip quirky bars, artisan bakeries mingle with cupcake emporiums and independent shops weave their way through the myriad of streets!

Whether you are a seasoned foodie or even a critic (professional or nearly professional), gastronomic delights can be sampled at the many fabulous independent restaurants and bars in town (from fine dining to rotisserie chicken or artisan pizzas).

Harrogate is an architectural dream, a Victorian spa town right in the heart of North Yorkshire. You can be as active or as relaxed as you choose on your break away. Whether you enjoy shopping, sightseeing, walking, pampering, gin tasting, cake sampling, Harrogate has a slice of it all.

If you’d like to head further afield, why not take the train to Knaresborough and have a wander along the river taking in its amazing views or visit the medieval city of York, all are perfect for young and old alike.

The splendour of the Yorkshire Dales is literally on the doorstep, whether it is quaint villages, outdoor pursuits from mountain biking to rock climbing and abseiling, or just a bracing walk across the fells you are looking for, North Yorkshire has it in abundance!

Yorkshire prides itself on its food and drink, and the Harrogate District personifies this, from Slingsby’s gin (a must try) to Betty’s wonderful cakes, the restaurants love to use locally sourced produce and are proud of this. We are happy to give some wonderful recommendations of independent restaurants and bars where I personally have eaten and loved, Harrogate loves to support local!
