We are in one of the most spectacular areas of the Yorkshire Dales which exudes beauty at every turn!
Hawks Barn is in the peaceful hamlet of Newhouses in Horton in Ribblesdale. Just a ten minute walk from the The Crown Hotel Pub and with direct access to a multitude of trails and adventures direct from the doorstep, whether on foot, bike or train.
Having a local train station on the Settle to Carlisle line, guests can easily access other attractions nearby. i.e Ribblehead Viaduct is seven minutes by train (also accessible by foot or bike). Kirkby Stephen (start of the Pennine Bridleway) is thirty-five minutes by train or a days ride by Bike on the Pennine Bridleway. Settle is seven minutes by train or accessible by footpath or bridleway. There are many more exciting routes and combinations to explore and we are only too happy to advise.
For guests interested in Climbing, Paragliding, Caving, to name but a few, we are very well positioned as a central base to enjoy all that this wonderful area has to offer.
A hop, skip and a jump up the road we quite literally have a myriad of activities/ excursions waiting to be explored. If wanting a food and drink tour, you are spoilt for choice, try the cheese tasting at the home of Wenslydale Cheese located in Hawes, sample a local brew at Masham brewery or visit Ingleton with its independent shops (and best bar, the Old Post Office). These are just a few, Yorkshire prides itself on local produce of exceptional standards and this is found in abundence!
A rainy day (never) but if the sun doesn’t want to play ball, why not visit White Scar Caves, a 10 minute drive up the road. When the sun does come out to play, there’s the stunning waterfalls walk in Ingleton, the Ingleborough Cave Trail, the 3 glorious peaks to name but a few. We are also lucky enough to not only have wonderful countryside on our doorstep but the Lakes are just an hour up the road! Windermere is 50 mins to an hour!
Your posiibilities are endless, the hardest thing will be deciding what to fit in during your stay!
